Interdisciplinary Surface Science Conference 2027 (ISSC 2027)

12-16 April 2027

Nottingham, UK

The next Interdisciplinary Surface Science Conference (ISSC 27) will be held in Nottingham in April 2027. The ISSC is the principal surface science conference in the UK and attracts researchers from across academia, industry, and national laboratories. The event focuses on all fundamental and applied aspects of surfaces and interfaces, including the physical properties of materials and chemical reactions occurring at surfaces.

The conference is organised by the Thin Films and Surfaces group of the Institute of Physics (IOP), with a local organising committee drawn from the Schools of Chemistry and Physics & Astronomy at the University of Nottingham.

The programme will include a range of invited and contributed oral presentations, alongside a dedicated poster session. Prizes will be awarded for outstanding oral and poster presentations delivered by PhD students.

Who should attend

The Interdisciplinary Surface Science Conference 2027 is aimed at researchers, industry professionals, and students working in surface science, materials science, physics, chemistry, engineering, and nanotechnology.

The event is ideal for anyone interested in surface characterisation, thin films, coatings, catalysis, interfaces, advanced materials, and their applications across academia and industry.

Who you'll meet

You will meet researchers, industry professionals, and students from a wide range of disciplines, including surface science, materials science, physics, chemistry, engineering, and nanotechnology.

Connect with experts working on surface characterisation, thin films, coatings, catalysis, interfaces, and advanced materials, as well as professionals developing innovative technologies across academia, industry, and national laboratories.
